SETTINGS: Somorrah

CURRENT GUARDIAN: N/A
LEGAL NOTICES: TBD
Skip to the bottom to see which villains are available for plotting!
Description
Somorrah is a city that lives and breathes corruption of every flavor. From the grimy alleyways filled with trash and sick rats to the gleaming neon highrises filled with rotten mob bosses, to everything in between. Somorrah isn't the sort of place a good person walks at night, but that really isn't a problem: Somorrah is accessible only to those who are undoubtedly villainous or antagonistic. There are no good guys, vigilantes, or heroes here!
From Monday through Saturday, Somorrah is blanketed by the night, illuminated nonetheless by the moon, the stars, and the billions of glittering lights, billboards, advertisements, and smoldering cigars. On Sunday, starting at midnight and lasting for a full 24 hours, the city is bathed in warm sunlight. While most citizens prefer to take this day off to sleep in the big sinful jungle, there are plenty of others who are just as cozy in the light as they are in the darkness.
Despite the dark hearts of everyone who walks, crawls, or prowls these streets, most of them have a sort of unspoken understanding or even an alliance with the others. Crime against other Somorrians is very low, since it's no fun mugging a guy who's just going to shank you right back. But don't relax too much, there's no telling what a desperate or depraved person will do if you give them just one tiny opportunity. Don't let down your guard.
Current Residents
Please check the housing page.
Al's Amyunishuns
This lime green storefront has guttering fluorescent lights in the overhead ceiling, casting a sickly glow on the wares displayed on the shelves: boxes of bullets, ornate knives, brass knuckles, even brownies molded to look like grenades with a delicious smear of pistachio frosting. The clerk reads dirty magazines behind a secure safety cage, past which are firearms and real grenades. The stock ranges from powder-loaded muskets to rapid fire laser pistols. A sign hangs next to the handbell to summon the clerk that reads 'Ask about our tank rental program!' Anyone pedantic enough to mention that 'Ammunitions' is spelled wrong will be promptly shot in the face.
Board of Evil Deeds - Owner: Mother Brain
Business Details and Sign-Up
This is a sturdy interactive board set up in multiple locations around the city, and downloadable as an app to your communication device so you can check what jobs are available at your leisure. The easy to navigate menu can help you select jobs based on reward, city, and sheer pettiness. Confirming that you'll take the job puts you in direct contact with Mother Brain who gives you any necessary details and information. You can ask her for weapons, henchmen, or supplies, but she'll dock your pay accordingly. You're still getting what you want at a discount, though.
C&S: Cybernetics and Spyware
This place is a glowing nest for hackers and tech experts willing to peddle their services and wares. If you need someone to break into an electronic safe, hack a holodeck program, or hook you up with some sweet infrared goggles so you can sneak around at night more easily, these
Drugs! Drugs! Drugs!
You can probably guess what they sell here.
Hank's Henchmen For Hire
This expensive 26-story building has a cute little animated neon sign on the side of a big man with a fedora clubbing a cop, the latter of which sports 'x' eyes every time the club comes down. A bored secretary passes you a form to fill out to indicate the number of thugs you need, the species most desired (with two to three alternatives of course), and the length of time you'll be renting them out. Weapons and equipment cost extra. What's more frightening is the huge phonebook-thick stack of legal documents you have to sign promising the prompt return of the henchmen in favorable condition, and the steep fees you'll have to pay if you get any of them killed, maimed, or subjected to a romantic redemption arc that excludes them from returning to Somorrah.
Hoagies and Stogies
Have you ever wished you could by a fine Cuban cigar and also a fine Cuban pork sandwich in the same place? ...Well you will. Hoagies and Stogies: Eat Not-So-Fresh!
Police Precinct 69
No one knows what became of the cops here, but this vacated police station is now a fad restaurant. Buxom girls and shirtless guys wait your tables, bringing you drinks that smoke with a tiny chunk of dry ice, human heart-shaped meatloaf, and other thuggish delicacies that you can eat either at a policeman's desk, behind bars, or for an extra fee in the commissioner's plush office with leather furniture and real-looking potted plants.
Current Archways Activated
None.
CLOSED BUT PAID FOR ARCHWAYS: None.
CLOSED ARCHWAYS (by in-game action): None.
Below is a list of active villains in the game, and special services the player of said villain is willing to offer. If you're starved for your character to face some kind of conflict, this is your one-stop-shop! Before browsing for villainous deeds to add to your cart, please read the following guidelines:
* Be respectful and only make requests for what the character has listed. If brutal mutilation and torture isn't on the menu, don't ask for it.
* If your request for villainy is declined, please be respectful of that person's right to say 'no.' Some players may work out an alternative, but they shouldn't be harassed, insulted, or made to deal with passive-aggressive remarks. If someone says no, it means no, so don't argue with them.
* For requests that would result in severe physical or mental harm to your character, or would otherwise have a strong affect on your character's close CR, please make sure those players have a chance to either agree and get involved with the plot or the ability to opt out entirely. Someone playing an innocent character like Rainbow Brite might not want her to see a public broadcast of her best friend's head getting lopped off.
For villains, please review the following guidelines:
* Expect negative CR, and try to embrace it. You don't have to respond to every character who curses them out, but a lot of characters generally won't look on evil deeds favorably. Your character may proceed to make fun of these fussy prudes.
* Have your character take a loss at least occasionally. If what they're doing is going to rile up a lot of characters into wanting revenge, give them an opportunity for that. You don't have to be a doormat, but giving heroes closure is beneficial to character growth.
* Communicate everything you want and don't want. Don't be shy or modest about this! If you want your character to avoid prison but don't mind death, say so. If you want your character to narrowly escape after a certain event, say so! Playing a villain should be both fun and comfortable, so don't agree to anything for the sake of politeness that would deny you either of those key factors.
* Make sure to get the necessary approvals from the mod or city guardian where applicable. Guardians and deputies don't want to deal with IC accusations of being incompetent just because they weren't OOCly allowed to participate, and the mods would like to know if anything is going to explode that they don't want to be exploded. The mods are also happy to help you craft a fun event that all participating parties can enjoy, so don't be afraid to approach them with ideas and questions.
Koishi Komeiji |To list a villain, fill out the below form:koishi_komeiji
Villainy Rating: PG - R
Capabilities:
♥ The ability is to be unnoticed. She can walk by anyone and they are unable to see that she's there. This does not work on cameras.
♥ Psionics. She can manipulate the subconscious of others in both broad and narrow senses of the definition. She can also psychically affect the world around her but she doesn't have fine telekenesis.
♥ Psychic dead-zone. She herself nullifies most psychic abilities directed at her or around her.
♥ Flight at will.
♥ Kinetic blasts of magic.
♥ She's a flesh eating youkai that can crack bones with her teeth.
Miscellaneous: Her short attention span is probably best suited to any order that can be given in the moment. Anything that involves standing around doing nothing she cannot do. She will wander off. But bringing her somewhere to steal something works just fine. Also she is one hell of a good cleaner and will likely do so for free since corpses are good eating.
Mother Brain |motherbrain
Villainy Rating: G - PG-13
Capabilities:
♠ Attempting (with occasional success) to conquer and enslave cities, subarchways, etc.
♠ Fights with a variety of henchmen
♠ Brainwashing
♠ Creating robotic clones of someone's worst fear (and learning said worst fear in the first place)
♠ Stealing valuable items and weaponry
♠ Blackmailing
♠ Kidnapping/Hostages
Miscellaneous: A full and more detailed permissions post can be found here! In addition, if you want your character to be added as a target or victim to the bounty board, let me know. I'll be happy to include them somewhere on the list! If there's something you want that isn't listed, I don't mind if you ask for it, but I may decline if it seems OOC for her. Anything from the shows is probably fair game!
Sakuya Izayoi |sakuya_izayoi
Villainy Rating: PG - R
Capabilities:
⸶ Manipulation of time and space.
⸶ Knife throwing. She's very accurate even at a distance.
⸶ Flight.
⸶ Slight of hand and misdirection.
⸶ Knows how to show off.
⸶ Knows how to be subtle.
⸶ Is a fantastic cook.
Miscellaneous: With her abilities Sakuya really excels at murder. Though she does not like killing children and will often outright refuse to do so. She also has no extended training with torture but she is very good at using corpses to send messages. She's also good at making people feel helpless or terrified before they are killed.
Shooter (Real Name: Aaron Conner) |maskgunraid
Villainy Rating: PG-13
Capabilities:
♠ Vigilante: Shooter's main modus operandi is targeting corrupted adults and exposing their crimes to the public. However, I feel it's considered a crime since he will kill the adults in secret after he exposes them.
♠ Hacking: He often hacks into several known businesses' network for information in order to expose his targets.
♠ Brainwashing: He has several abilities as a Data Reader that allows him to manipulate other people's minds to complete his tasks
♠ Illusion Torture/Blackmailing: He can inflict his illusions on the characters based on their worst fears, just to distract them or blackmailing.
Miscellaneous: Along with his illusion (most visual illusions) and electric powers, Shooter has a variety of mind manipulation abilities listed in his profile such as post-hypnotic commands for memory altering and brainwashing. He can also read people's minds, which I have a permission post if you want to opt-out of it if you're not comfortable. He mostly targets NPC corrupted adults, but he will try to harm your character if they try to stop his plans to kill them.
