SETTINGS: Nova City
![]() CURRENT GUARDIAN: TRUNKS BRIEF LEGAL NOTICES: The following laws have been added by player characters in this city: -Bounty hunters are required to have licenses. Bounty hunting without a license may result in your character's arrest. -It is illegal to discriminate against non-organic and partially-organic beings. Description Truly this is the future! Buildings are slender and shiny, and almost everything is fully automated, including the sidewalks. Most businesses are run by machines and robots, and it's not unusual to see vehicles that fly...and people that fly too, on rare occasion. Oddly enough, space travel is not permissible here, but one may rent a flying car to quickly zip about the city. The sidewalks move as well, for those who prefer to travel on foot. Local inhabitants range from ordinary humans to bizarre (but intelligent) aliens, all who seem to accept one another's company and move about as if they're accustomed to seeing all kinds of species. Aster Technologies Aster Technologies is the premier firm dedicated to the advancement of robotics and other life-enhancing technologies. Their office is a typical office building, though they do have laboratories to work in, a shop on the first floor, and they allow their employees to work remotely from their homes and only come in for meetings, presentations, and other development check-ups as long as they show progress. Capsule Corporation - Owner: Trunks Brief A small building, compared to the skyscrapers, but still growing. There's a clean and modern shop front selling all kinds of capsules. Most are empty, and come color coded to show their storage capacity. The largest can hold an automobile, and the smallest, just a few snacks. Some come pre-loaded with convenience store style food, or other household items. There's also an automated production line, a lab, and there might also be a gravity training room, not that it's advertised, but customers inquiring about it may be allowed to use it depending on the staff's mood. City Hall City Hall is a grandiose structure with hundreds of offices for just about every government job you can think of. At the center of it is the Mayor's office, where the current NPC mayor does his day to day work. There are numerous elevators and it has its own courtyard with various treats and delights to help the city's employees get through the day to day. Employees range from robots, aliens, humans, and any combination thereof. Fama Talent Agency The Fama talent agency is renown throughout Nova City for employing the best of the best when it comes to employing talent. Models, actors, singers, the Fama talent agency take diamonds and make them shine even brighter. Galaxy Security Services - Owner: Jenny Galaxy Security Services will take care of all your security needs from bodyguards and security guards to alarms, cameras and all other manner of security devices and contraptions to ensure protection and peace of mind. All employees are trained to ensure top notch service and protection. Don't want to hire someone? No problem! Just take one of our special defense classes, taught by valued and skilled instructors and then you too will have more security in knowing you can handle anything that comes your way! Guardian Skyrise The Guardian Skyrise is a skyscraper that rises highest in all of Nova City, a beacon of safety and assurance for its citizens. The uppermost cabin-like levels are the City Guardian and Deputy offices, with the floor just below them being temporary holding cells using Aster Technology's most advanced hardlight cells, capable of holding any amount of physical strength. The floor below that is a meeting hall that is typically rented out to help fund projects at the discretion of the current Guardian with holographic displays to make communication over a long distance for large group meetings easy and as realistic as possible. There is a gap in the tower that allows for an open-walk garden featuring some of Nova City's Synthetilyfe plants that produce three times more oxygen on average than nature's best. Below the garden, much of the lower levels are various smaller businesses and offices, though rent is much higher due to the proximity to the Guardian's office. Hard Light - Owner: Grell Sutcliff Hard Light is a sister company to Juliet's Lair. The hardware (a compact and necklace) is provided from another company specializing in holographic clothing, and they make the exclusive lingerie designs of Juliet's Lair available to purchase. Hard Light will be available in cities with wireless capabilities, and expanding to those without it as time passes. A compact will be available ( http://imgur.com/ZuK3t97 ) to switch between clothing, or available via a device application (free to download). First time customers can receive a reduced price for the hardware when they purchase other lingerie items. Compacts can be purchased at either Juliet's Lair or at the physical shop of Hard Light, but the interactive fitting room is only in Nova City. More details found here! Holoplaza One of the most popular attractions of Nova City, the Holoplaza has numerous large rooms which can be rented for a fee. Each room has the capability of producing a realistic simulation of the visitor's choice, ranging from an indulgence in a steamy romance, to the most kickass laser tag games the world has ever seen. Some rent the larger rooms for social events, and catering is available if reservations are made in advance. Hover Tracks Races held every weekend with custom-built hover cars. On the last day of every month, a special Monster Hov' Rally is held in which Monster Hover-Trucks pit off against each other in a combination of robotics fight-ring and traditional monster truck rally-style shows. I AM HOVER TRUCK! Nexus Defense Industries The lead defense contractor in Nova City. Helps support military, security, police, and Guardians by providing top of the line products. Nova City Beach The Nova City Beach had once been closed due to pollution and overfishing problems, but in November 2017 thanks in part to Mayor Jacques Schnee, the beach was reopened to the public. The beach itself is a couple of miles long, with a few restaurants located right on the beach with outdoor seating. The restaurants only open in the summer. Thanks to the city's rejuvenation efforts, the sea life is finally thriving again in Nova City and, though it's nowhere near as impressive as Fayren's beach and ocean, it's a good place to chill. Be wary that there may be weather warnings and beach closures for safety reasons whenever the weather would cause flooding or strong tides. Citizens may also volunteer through City Hall to perform regular beach clean-ups every Sunday to help keep the beach clean. Check out this cool picture of the mayor doing his part! -From unknown source. Nova City Museum The museum has a number of different wings that are dedicated to art, natural history, science, and preserving the history of Genessia and its inhabitants. The exhibits range from art, dinosaurs, old dynoramas of miniatures, mummies, planes, trains, automobiles, telephones, chairs, and well you get the drift! While the museum's collection does have a number of static exhibits, special event exhibits do rotate to keep public interest going, so if you see something you're interested in, catch it before it's gone back into the history vault! Nova City Islands A massive indoor island resort whose interior looks like that of a tropical island, with sand, trees and all. The inside is climate controlled, offering perfect weather for relaxing. It has its own indoor lamp that functions as a sun. No light from outside of the resort can penetrate it. Even if it’s cloudy and gloomy and rainy outside, those inside wouldn’t notice at all. Lodging in Nova City Islands cannot be rented longer than a week at most. Pictures here. Nova K-12 The best elementary school in all of Genessia (self-proclaimed). This proud school prepares youngsters to be their best with the best tech and facilities around. Nova City University (NCU) A university with a heavy emphasis on STEM studies, Nova City University churns out the best and the brightest students. Lines of study often go into very advanced and specific branches, allowing students to customize their degrees to their future needs. Old Man Tanner's Scrapyard Naturally located in the technological epicenter that is Nova City, the Scrapyard is filled to the brim with scrap metal and old, broken-down components. Some of these components can be salvaged at the hands of a particularly skilled technician, but to the layman it's all quite useless. The yard itself is located on the outer edge of the city, because all that rust and grime smells a little gross. Planetarium This large building is rich with exhibits, and an hourly show that speaks about the solar system and the constellations overhead. Admission to the planetarium is free, and tickets to the hourly show are available at a small cost. Souvenirs include vials of moon dust, small chunks of moonstone and otherworldly rocks, space-related toys and desk decorations, etc., which may be purchased in the Galaxy Shop. Rocketeer Postal Service A mail delivery company in Nova City that is manned by people instead of machines. Some still like for a human touch to be on their mail instead of the cold, unfeeling touch of machinery. Safari Zone Characters can hop on board the monorail and take a ride past the city limits to where acres of simulated forest, marshes, plains, mountains, lakes, and ocean is now home to hundreds of Pokemon. This includes Pokemon that were released in other events, and those who found themselves without an owner when a character dropped from the game. If your character re-apped and lost all of their Pokemon, they just might see a familiar and friendly face in the Safari Zone. Upon disembarking from the train, characters will find themselves smack dab in Pokemon tourist central! There are shops offering fossils, evolution items, toys, and accessories. There are Pokemon-centric spas and beauty parlors, a trading post with a bulletin board and swap machine, Pokemon cafes, and of course, a Pokemon Center where trainers can rest while their Pokemon are restored to full health. The Safari Zone itself is at the end of the road of shops, where enormous wooden doors swing open to admit visitors. Just inside the gate is a kiosk with a helpful attendant, who offers visitors a cute souvenir safari hat that somehow perfectly fits. Characters can pay a fee to receive up to six Pokeballs per day. They won't need to battle Pokemon to catch them, but some Pokemon may refuse to be caught unless sufficiently challenged (i.e. it's up to you as a player how you want to handle it). All base-form non-legendary Pokemon can be found here, including starters, so if someone really wants to spend time increasing their Pokemon collection, they certainly may! Characters can also access the data pad to find out where their other Pokemon are roaming about, and either exchange one of their team members via teleporter, drop off members of their team, or collect their old teammates with no more than six on their person at any given time. The Safari Zone closes at dusk and opens at sunrise. Schnee Company: Nova City Branch - Founder: Weiss Schnee, Owner: Winter Schnee Located near archway entrance inside Nova City, Schnee Company provides information and services in order to help newcomers to Nova City adjust to advanced technology, travel services, finding housing and employment within the city, basic maintenance of city events and planning, as well as travel planning and assistance with public transportation services. A subsidiary of the welcoming branch and headquarters in Genessia, this branch of Schnee Company focuses on Nova City-relevant services. Schnee Company also offers workshops to those from worlds that lack technological advancement to help get them up to a functional understanding of modern technology. Sky Gardens As you may have noticed, much of Nova City is high-tech and can be a little overwhelming for someone who is used to green everywhere. While there are a few residences that plant greenery intentionally, most of the main city uses manufactured air that mimics the composition of regular air without relying on plants or plankton. However, if you miss the flora and foliage, take a hovercraft up to the Sky Gardens. They're those large ships in the sky that seem to hover around the city and not go anywhere, and each of the three support different biomes: one jungle, one evergreen forest, and one aquatic. Please note that it is illegal to remove plants from the Sky Gardens. Space Adventure Nova City is known as the land of sci-fi, but space seems all but unreachable thanks to the barrier... until now! Space Adventure uses neuro-stimulation to mentally bring your character into space for their choice of adventure. Explore an alien planet (randomized features), race through space in a space ship, or just have a drink at the astronomical pub with that purple lady with the glorbb'k who keeps winking at you with her third eye. Current Archways Activated Kalee - Activated by Grievous This area of Kalee has a tropical rainforest/jungle leading into an ocean surrounded by mossy cliffs. There is a built-up area on the shoreline with a large pyramid-like structure at its centre, flat at the top and similar to a Mayan style of construction. Inside is a sort of cultural temple with artwork on the walls and grand statues of exalted Kaleesh and those who have been revered as godlike. Lesser side buildings lead to homes and markets. Part of the forest beyond can be entered and strange alien animals can be found within. The ocean and beach area can also be visited, all within a fairly compact area. Planet Zeltros - Activated by K-2SO Zeltros is the homeworld planet of the Zeltron race. It's an opulent world in a constant planet-wide party. There's an abundance of pleasurable facilities ranging from amusement parks to theaters, night clubs, and much more. Zeltrons are near-human species, their skin is light pink to deep red, their hair varies from red to blue. Most of them are considered highly attractive by Human and non-humanoid standards. The most distinctive characteristic is that they produce potent pheromones, that enhanced their attractiveness and likability. Those who visit the planet are taken in by the celebratory atmosphere and the powerful pheromones of the Zeltron people to the point they'll find it difficult to leave or cause any sort of violence. Powell Estate in Peckham - Activated by The Doctor (10) 20th century London edition. The neighborhood of Rose Tyler. There appears to be "BAD WOLF" grafitti around the area, but otherwise your average London council estate with the occasional alien cropping up. Those with abilities that allow them to bypass perception filters might notice a blue police box occasionally within. Pond House in London, 21st Century - Activated by River Song The Pond House in London is in a posh neighborhood and has a TARDIS blue door on the outside of it. The street itself is quiet, and there are multiple houses on either side. Across the street there appears to be a park, which is where the Doctor landed his TARDIS. UNIT H.Q. - Activated by Sarah Jane Smith UNIT HQ is a secret location in Northern England that houses one of England's first anti-alien government units. Under order of Alistair Gordon Lethbridge-Stewart, The Brigadier, UNIT responds to any sort of crisis involving explainable phenomenon. For years their lead scientist was The Doctor (his third face) and occasionally after his exile ended, The Doctor would return. Sarah Jane Smith retains her connections to UNIT and calls them in for help should anything need cleaning up.The Archway would be both the house and the surrounding grounds. Videoland - Activated by Mother Brain Videoland is a realm where the characters and worlds of video games exist, and are all interconnected via warp zone pipes. Videoland is caught in a war between the Palace of Power where Princess Lana and her heroic team, and Mother Brain's Fortress of Evil where she, too, has aligned with powerful villains all willing to do her bidding to rule this realm. Some of the video game worlds that have been reached before include Castlevania, Bayou Billy's swamps, The Legend of Zelda's Hyrule, and many, many others. Entering this particular archway lands the character smack dab on the brain-like mech planet of Metroid, a dreary world threaded with a mix of technology and grotesque organic compounds. Soldiers are crawling the planet's surface and have been instructed to take any intruders prisoner for Mother Brain to interrogate. Tread with caution! |
